SB Motorsports will debut as a new privateer team competing in the 2018 MX Nationals and Australian Supercross series.

The team based out of Roweville in Victoria will field a two rider line up in the MX Nationals series with New Zealand import Kayne Lamont representing the team in the MX1 class. For Lamont, his collaboration with SB Motorsports will see him receive support from his team in New Zealand, Josh Coppins Altherm JCR Yamaha, providing him with a race bike in Australia and SB Motorsports picking up the logistical end of his MXN program for this season.

“I’m excited to be coming back to race a full season of the MX Nationals” said 24 year old Lamont coming off a third overall in the NZ MX1 Championship that wrapped up last week. “I’ve had great success in the past winning the MXD class in 2012, it has been a few years since I have been able to compete in a full series and having my Altherm JCR Yamaha race bike to race on this year under the SB Motorsports program will be a huge help in me finding speed and comfort quickly in the MXN series”.

Lamont will be joined by teammate Josh Brewster, at 17 years of age will be competing in the MXD class for his second season on the MX Nationals circuit. “I can’t wait to get this season underway” said Brewster. “Last year I was splitting time between riding, school and lots of small injuries that made the year tough. This year I am fully focused on riding and have a great opportunity with good people supporting me to show what I am capable of”. Brewster will be supported by KSP KTM Wodonga, flooringsales.com.au, SPMX, The Collective, Seven, 6D Helmets, , KTM Australia, Alpine Stars, Pirelli, Motorex and Joe Stevens MAD mx coaching.

SB Motorsports will be managed by Scott Brewster. “For our SB program 2018 is all about finding a solid base to build on in the future, both on the race track and in our ability to represent our sponsors and partners. We have a great rider in Kayne Lamont with lots of experience to compete in the premier MX1 class and represent us well and Josh will learn a lot having him as a team mate this season. I’m also looking forward to supporting a select number of privateer riders in 2018 providing both transportation and pit logistics for the interstate rounds this year.

SB Motorsports will make their debut at Maffra Sale for round 1 of the MX Nationals April 15th.
